Learn a language by reading it
Vordy writes short texts at your level in English, Spanish or Russian around the words you save, lets you look up any word with a tap, and brings your words back until they stay.

Look a word up once, keep it
Tap a word in a text, or type a word or a short phrase into the dictionary. In a text, a popup shows what the word means in your sentence, with its other meanings one click away. From there you save the word or open its full article with forms and examples.
- One click saves the word with its meaning as a card.
- Translations, forms and related words each open their own article.
- Saved words come back in your reviews and turn up in the texts Vordy writes for you.

How it works
Save the words you meet
Look up a word in the dictionary or in a text and save it as a card. Nothing you looked up gets lost.
Read a text written around them
Vordy writes a short text at your level that uses your saved words, on a topic or in a genre you pick. Tap any word to look it up as you read.
Review with spaced repetition
Each card comes back just as it starts to fade. Reviews cost no credits.
Practise until you can use them
Grammar topics, gap-fills in sentences built around your words, and study sets that pace your new cards.
Practice that starts at your level
Practice gathers everything that turns a word you recognise into a word you can use.
- A placement test measures your level before you save a single word.
- Grammar topics are sorted by level, and most come with exercises.
- Exercises are built from the words you saved and the texts you read.
- Study sets group your cards by tag and decide how many new ones come in a day.
- Statistics show your streak, your accuracy and how your cards are moving.

A translator that explains
Translate what you write into the language you are learning, or what you receive into your own. Vordy notes the grammar behind the translation and, when you check your own writing, shows what to fix and why.

Vordy runs on credits: looking up a word, having a text written or making exercises spends a few of them. During the beta, accounts get their credits for free.
Questions
Is Vordy free?
Yes, for as long as the closed beta lasts. Your account starts with 2,000 credits at no charge, and plans and prices will be announced once the beta is over.
How do I get an invite?
During the closed beta, Vordy is by invitation only. Write to [email protected] to ask for one. The invite comes by email.
Which languages can I learn?
English, Spanish and Russian during the closed beta. While the beta runs, the app's interface and the native language you choose are English, Spanish or Russian too.
Is there a mobile app?
Not yet. During the beta, Vordy works in your web browser on a computer, a tablet or a phone, with nothing to install.
What if the AI gets something wrong?
Dictionary articles, texts and exercises are written by AI and can contain mistakes. Dictionary articles and grammar exercises have a report button, and a person reviews every report, so the fix reaches everyone. For a text, a gap-fill or a topic explanation, report a problem from the app: it opens a support request to [email protected].
What are credits?
Credits pay for the work the AI does for you: a dictionary article costs 5 credits, a text 25, and a translation or a grammar check a few. Reviews cost you nothing.
What texts can I read?
Short texts Vordy writes for you, at your level and around the words you saved. Choose a length, then a topic or a genre such as a dialogue, a letter or a diary, or let Vordy surprise you.
